WorkflowLab Beta Preview: Categories

January 5, 2010

When working with complex workflows, it can become difficult to visually discern different types of tasks from each other, or to have a way to group items as related to each other. With the WorkflowLab beta, we added custom categories that you can use to group and organize your tasks into customizable category names.

By default, new tasks in WorkflowLab are not assigned a category, but you can easily add them using the category drop down, or a quick keyboard shortcut.

Each of the categories have a specific color associated with them, so your workflow items will be tinted to show their category association. In addition, you can customize the name of your categories right from the category drop down.

Custom categories was a fun feature to build in WorkflowLab and also opened up other features which I’ll preview in an upcoming post, but this makes it much easier to group and organize your workflow items.

The current release of WorkflowLab is available at Adobe Labs (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/workflowlab) and uses Adobe AIR. Stay tuned for more upcoming features in WorkflowLab beta!
